Ever had a chance encounter and struck up a conversation with someone on a bus, at a party or when attending a business networking event that led to a serendipitous sequence of events or created new opportunities in your life, career, or business?
Many people have gone on to form new and lasting friendships, excellent business connections, and opened doors to new chapters in their life, career, and business through the random dialogues they have in their chance encounters.
During Covid, online apps like Zoom, Streamyard, and Remo saw phenomenal growth as millions of people working from home were finding, joining, and hosting random dialogues and attending virtual networking events online to connect with others around the globe.
However, many individuals, entrepreneurs and business owners struggle with:
Deciding which networking events to attend
How to start, join or host a conversation online
Not knowing what to say or to whom
Lack confidence when attending business networking events
Others struggle with:
Generating the opportunities they want in their life, career or business
Finding their voice, crafting a key message & sharing their story
Their elevator pitch & killer qualifying question
How to follow-up and connect after the event, call, or conversation
In my book, co-authored with Fraser Hay, “Business Networking: Beyond Small Talk - How to Transform Your Life, Career and Business with Random Dialogues” we introduce you to different strategies, tactics, and ideas to assist you in starting, joining, and hosting your own random dialogues and conversations to unlock your networking potential and to create new opportunities in your life, career, or business.
Fraser and I have been active networkers online and offline for many years. Fraser runs a Facebook group with over 2000 members. In addition to organising and running BUZZ business networking events in Guildford, Random Dialogue speaking events, and co-founding Burpham Wellfest, I’ve recently been elected as a local Councillor after campaigning and engaging individuals and business owners in my constituency using some of the tactics we share.
For both of us, random dialogues are spontaneous, unpredictable, and thought-provoking conversations that can occur at planned offline business networking events, live online events or local social events and can often lead to new perspectives, connections, and insights.
They bring people from different backgrounds and experiences together to explore ideas, challenge assumptions, and share stories. With random dialogues in my Facebook group and at business networking events, you never know what topics will arise, who you will meet, or what you will learn, but you can be sure that it will be a unique and enriching experience.
So how much would 1, 3 or 7 new conversations mean to you in your life, career and business?
